Expanding community outreach is a critical element to protect U.S. Army personnel and critical resources from the threat of terrorist action. To communicate and educate Soldiers, Family members, Army civilians, contractors and veterans about the potential dangers and counter-defense against terrorists, an Armywide effort is important to reach all corners of Army communities.
Throughout the past year, Army antiterrorism initiatives increased understanding of the evolving terrorist threat tactics and protective countermeasures by:
•Leveraging the Combating Terrorist Center at West Point.
•By providing resources to empower antiterrorism coordinators at the local level.
•By promoting antiterrorism community awareness at every opportunity.
•By providing extensive products and tools to focus on protecting Army communities.
The Army has professional law enforcement and security forces to protect Army communities. Vigilance by everyone remains a key component to counter the persistent terrorist threat.
The Army’s Antiterrorism Division will continue to expand community awareness of the risks associated with terrorist activities and what can be done to prevent terrorism. To counter the efforts of terrorists and extremists, the Army will continue to expand antiterrorism awareness efforts and involve Soldiers, Family members, Army civilians, contractors and veterans.
Leaders at all levels will continue to be encouraged to promote knowledge of threat awareness reporting mechanisms such as iWATCH Army, iSALUTE, and insider threat, cyber and operations security programs.
Army needs everyone’s help to ensure school security is a priority for Army communities.
Other antiterrorism priorities for FY18 and beyond include Antiterrorism Awareness Month in August.
People are the Army’s greatest asset and protecting Army communities is a vital responsibility. Antiterrorism efforts protect people, information and facilities against terrorist acts.
